NeighborWorks Columbus, Over 15 Years of Serving the Chattahoochee Valley!
NeighborWorks Columbus continues to meet the housing needs of working families throughout the Muscogee County, Georgia, and Lee and Russell counties in Alabama. Over the years, we have implemented a variety of strategies and programs to effectively fulfill our mission and commitment to our clients.
1999
NeighborWorks Columbus began operations as an affordable housing developer and rehabilitator.
2001-2002
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) certified NeighborWorks Columbus as a housing counseling agency; NeighborWorks Columbus launched its housing counseling activities in 2002.
2004
NeighborWorks Columbus joined the NeighborWorks® network and become a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) by U.S. Treasury.
2005-2006
NeighborWorks Columbus expanded its service area to include two counties in Alabama, and in 2006 it opened an office in Opelika, Alabama.
2009 – 2010
NeighborWorks Columbus entered into the area of multifamily housing and co-developed Solstice, a 56-unit rental project in Opelika, Alabama, for low-income elderly residents.
2010
NeighborWorks Columbus reorganized its activities, ceasing the majority of its new construction activity and separating real estate development and management activities into the re-named subsidiary, CHI Asset Management. In the same year, NeighborWorks Columbus Realty was formed.
2012
NeighborWorks Columbus received a $6.2 million restricted grant from Wells Fargo for the NeighborhoodLIFT program, which provides down-payment-assistance loans to first- time home buyers in Atlanta.
